VENDOR INFORMATION PACKAGE


Our Annual SOCA REGGAE FESTIVAL will be held on July 10th, 11th, 12th , 2009. at the Old Market Square in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Festival will be a three day weekend of non-stop celebration of Reggae, Soca and Calypso music with artists coming from across Canada and North America to provide live performances at Old Market Square. Get ready for three nights of music, dancing, drinks, friends and fun as reggae and soca performers, both local and international bring you to the Caribbean. The air will be filled with the sweet smell of Caribbean and Latin flavors. Foods such as jerk chicken, peas and rice, patties, curry goat, roti, and much more will create the Old Market Square into a Caribbean Village.

Vending spaces for the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) are being reserved on a first come first serve basis.

NOTE: All covered vendors authorized by the Festival Directors to vend at Old Market Square will be provided with vending space including a 10x10 canvas tent. All unauthorized vendors will be assessed a fine by the Manitoba Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and will be removed immediately from the Festival site by the Winnipeg Police.

FOOD: All food vendors must comply with the City of Winnipeg Health Department Regulations.

PLEASE NOTE: All food vendors must demonstrate past vending experience with similar festivals. Also, provide a copy of your current vending license.

ABSOLUTELY NO BOTTLED WATER WILL BE SOLD BY VENDORS. ALL WATER SALES WILL BE HANDLED BY THE FESTIVAL OFFICE.

All trash must be placed in the dumpsters located at the site. Vending space furnished by the Festival is 10' x 10' each for food and 10' x 10' for Crafts. All Applications and Fees must be received in Soca Reggae Festival Office on the deadline date (postmarked) to receive the price indicated per deadline date. No applications will be accepted after July 8th, 2009.

Vendors shall not be permitted to sell or consume ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES; Violators of this rule will be arrested and/or fined by the Winnipeg Police.

DISCLAIMER: The Soca Reggae Festival shall not be liable for, and assumes no responsibilities for participant's food/craft/ice cream specialty drinks, etc. equipment, inventory, employees, representatives, or agents or for loss or damage by reason of fire, vandalism, theft, water, natural disaster, or any other source whatsoever.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE FOR VENDING SPACES THIS YEAR (2009), WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU REGISTER IMMEDIATELY.

Volunteering Information

The Soca Reggae Festival needs more than 100 volunteers to help make the festival happen. We are looking for Soca Reggae Team Members who are able to volunteer for a minimum of two shifts (about 4-6 hours each) over the 3-day festival.

Volunteer Positions Available

  • Festival Ambassadors: Be the first to greet festival goers and give them a guide or provide information.

  • Information Center: What to be a know it all? You can be at the Soac Reggae Festival Site Information Center. Help others find their way, answer questions and assist festival goers as needed.

  • Miscellaneous: Too hard to pick your favorite volunteer job? As a miscellaneous volunteer, you'll be the one that is there to fill the jobs that are most needed when you arrive for your shift.

  • Souvenir Sales: Being a part of the souvenir sales team at the Festival is all of the fun of retail sales - great products, fun people to work with and a never-ending supply of customers!

  • Stagehands: Being a stagehand at the Festival is the next best thing to being in the band. You'll help with set-up and take down of equipment for the musical acts at one of two stages.

  • Beverage Tent: Be involved in helping the servers in the Beverage Tent
